SUMMARY:Community and Congregations: Ten Churches
DESCRIPTION:From their inception\, churches have played a vital role in Bellport\, Brookhaven and the neighboring communities. Solace\, sanctuary and support\, these churches have celebrated the joyful and comforted the afflicted\, built communities\, provided hospitality and advocated for justice since the eighteenth century. \nThis exhibition\, Community and Congregation: Ten Churches\, is designed to explore the history of our churches and to convey the many and varied ways they have contributed to making our area what it is today. In addition to the Gallery exhibit\, which will feature timelines\, archival materials\, photographs and a variety of objects loaned by the churches themselves\, there will be accompanying programs exploring in greater depth the unique histories of several of our churches in serving their congregants as the population of wester Suffolk country grew and changed between the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries. \nThe Gallery Exhibition is expected to run during March 14-May 23. 2026. \nThe churches! \n\nChrist episcopal Church\nMary Immaculate Roman Catholic Church\nBellport United Methodist Church\nNew Bethel First Pentecostal Church\nSt. James Episcopal Church\nOld South Haven Presbyterian Church\nRuth African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church\nThe Journey Church\nSt. Joseph the WorkerRC Church\nInglesia Pentecostal Arbol Que Florence
